Bücherei eröffnet
Seit Ende 2018 hat unser Projekt eine kleine Bücherei, die auch für die Kinder der Nachbarschulen geöffnet ist.
Wir haben inzwischen weit über 400 Bücher nach Haiti geschafft. Sie wurden gesammelt, gekauft und geschenkt.
Unter anderem von einer Hamburger Schule, die ihre französischen Bücher aussortiert hat und uns einen Riesenposten zukommen ließ. Von Kinderliteratur, Bilderbücher, Romane, Sachbücher, bis Fachliteratur über Pädagogik und Legasthenie und Liederbücher ist von allem etwas vorhanden. Dank der Großzügigkeit der Airlines konnten alle Besucher unseres Projekts eine Menge Bücher nach Haiti schaffen, ein großer Teil liegt aber immer noch in Deutschland.

Die Schulkinder dürfen ab 2. Klasse jeden Samstag die Bibliothek nutzen und in den Klassenräumen in aller Ruhe lesen und schmökern. Sie müssen sich, bevor der Leseausweis abgegeben wird, zuerst die Hände mit Seife waschen. Diese Regel wird nur zu gerne eingehalten, gibt es doch in den wenigsten Hütten eine gut riechende Seife und ein Handtuch zum Abtrocknen. Dann können sie die Bücher von den Tischen oder aus den Regalen auswählen. Manchmal muss der Dienst tuende Lehrer bei der Auswahl helfen, weil, vor allem die Kinder der Nachbarschulen Schwierigkeiten haben die französischen Texte zu verstehen, da in diesen Schulen der Unterricht in Kreol gehalten wird und Französisch nur als Fremdsprache unterrichtet wird.
Trotz allem wird der Samstag von den Schülern herbei gesehnt. Schon eine halbe Stunde vor Öffnung stehen sie schon vor dem Tor, um ja keine Minute „Lesen“ zu verpassen.
